Year 2 Mr Carew 2020 - 2021

Mr Carew

Autumn Term 2020-21

Welcome to Year 2

Home Learning

If you have to isolate, you will find the weeks planning document at the bottom of this page. It will be called 'Overview and resources for the week beginning......'

Within this document there will be Maths, English and Foundation tasks to work through.  Please bear in mind these resources have been prepared at the beginning of the week, and they be amended, added to or even moved to a later date as learning in class is assessed.

P.E kits

To help with logistics this term, the children should come to school wearing their P.E kit and a plain, dark coloured tracksuit on a day we have P.E. To make life less complicated, we will have two lessons in one day meaning the children can wear their usual school uniform the rest of the week. Our P.E day will be Monday.

If it is necessary to change the day, I will send a note home on the Friday before, so that you have plenty of notice of any change.

Reading books

In Year 2, the children will receive a specific reading book once a week. This book is to be returned the same day the following week when they will receive a new book.

The children will also bring home an ‘independent’ book from their colour band. This can be brought back to school any day of the week and the children will change this by themselves at an appropriate time during the school day. This will develop their independence and help ensure they have a book they think they will enjoy.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Thursday and is to be returned by Tuesday the following week. It will usually be a maths, reading or writing activity. If it differs, I will send a note home to explain.

The task will usually come home in their homework book, but twice a half term the task will be set on Class Dojo.

The children will also be set spellings each Thursday and will be tested the following Thursday. The children are encouraged to keep their spelling books in their school bag.

Water bottles and snack

The children are encouraged to bring a bottle to school each day with fresh water and a sensible snack for break time. Please do not send in juice for lesson times; if the children do bring juice they will be asked to save it until lunch time.
