Governors Who's Who

Amanda Edwards - Head Teacher

I joined Whirley as Head Teacher in September 2016. I sit on all committees and work with the governors to ensure that the school is well led, the children are safe and happy and the vision for the school is shared by all stake holders.

Peter Walsh - Chair of Governors

I joined the Governing Board in September 2019. I am a member of all three sub-committees, with a particular focus on the Finance and Premises Committee, which I Chair. I am the Lead Governor for Health and Safety and the Link Governor for Maths and Computing. I live locally and have served the local community for over 30 years as a member of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Mike Carew - Deputy Head Teacher & Associate Governor

As Deputy Headteacher, I have been a governor at Whirley since 2017. I sit on all three committees and attend Full Governing Body meetings. As well as supporting the Headteacher in informing the governing body about whole school matters, I specifically focus on assessment. At committee and FGB meetings I report to the governors about pupil progress, highlighting key aspects of my data analysis. Governors have the opportunity to study my analysis and ask probing questions to ensure the school is using the data and subsequent finding to develop plans that allows the children at Whirley to achieve their full potential.

As a class teacher, I am able to provide an 'at the coal face' view of school life, helping create a clear picture of how the school is functioning and giving insight into how the school can continue to prosper and develop further.

Lisa Campbell - Parent Governor

I joined the Governing Board in April 2018 as a Parent Governor and am currently a member of all 3 sub-committeees with particular interest in Teaching and Learning.  I have two children one of which is already at Whirley and one who will be joining from September 20187.  My job on a day to day basis is a teacher in a secondary school and Head of Performing Arts.
